Parents penalised for offering travel and culture to kids

This couple were in court today for taking their kids abroad on holiday for 1 week. They were fined £630, £300 costs and £63 victim surcharge. So you can work (paying tax to government) save up and take your kids on holiday to have some quality family time and let your children experience culture and travel, and be fined (money to go to government again). My son was off school for three months due to an accident, it took the education department two months to arrange a home tutor. He will sit his GCSE’s in just over a year. Who do I issue our fine to for them failing to provide continuous education, which they are obliged to do so. I calculate they owe us thousands, and lets not forget to add on the teacher training days and strike days. There is no justice, the fine this couple received is more than most fines for drink driving or burglary! Just another way of controlling a part of society. Finally the law they refer to is ambiguous and subject to interpretation as it states ‘regular basis’. I consider regular to be something you do often, not necessarily every day, therefore cannot see how they can enforce this upon someone whose children are otherwise present in school, barr a week for a holiday! Grrrr…..Rant over!

Benefit baloney

This is the best blog post I have seen with regards to the current issue we have in relation to benefits.  As I mentioned the other day when I wrote about Benefits Street, the media have done a sterling job painting all benefit claimants as lazy jobless layabouts living a life of luxury.  The harsh reality is this could not be further from the truth.

I really hope that the general public open their eyes and see what the reality is, rather than just repeating what is written or shown in the media.

<3 Liberty

“If I could be a store I would be Liberty of London”

It looks great from the outside and its special on the inside!

The contents of the shop are amazingly quirky and different.

As well as VERY, VERY cool…..

In addition with my name being liberty I would be free!

Meaning of Liberty: The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s behaviour or political views.

Imagine my excitement when I realised Liberty of London are on TV running a series about the shop in the busiest season….The Festive Season.

This place is definitely a thing I love #Shopping

Nice to meet you

magical me

It’s taken two years for me to reach a point where I am happy with myself.  I found it difficult after my divorce and consoled myself with nights out drinking a ship load of alcohol and having sex with whoever I wanted.  I found it was a way for me to control a part of my life and it made me feel wanted and desired, something my husband had never been able to do.  Well for a time this worked.  Every Sunday morning I’d have calls from my girlfriends wanting to know the details from the night before.  Most of them now settled with young families, openly telling me their lives were boring and it was the only excitement they got.  For a time I basked in the attention until one day I realised I was not getting the satisfaction I once was and I had become tired of being the weekly entertainment.

And so, I began to piece my life back together in a more stable way.  As I see myself over the worst and definitely towards the end of the recovery process concentrate on myself preparing for the day that I will meet the one guy that turns my head and takes me off the market.  Follow my stories of the hurdles I’ve jumped and the issues I am forced to deal with.  I invite you to laugh and cry along with me (depending on my mood and yours) as we ride the divorcee rollercoaster!

A bit about me……Down to Earth Northerner, 33 years young, divorced for 2 years, separated for 3 and still dealing with a difficult ex. LOVES: My children, our  two cats Lily & Tallulah, family & friends, dancing, socialising, randomness and adventure, story telling, Psychology. DISLIKES: Rude people, pretentious behaviour, freedom stealers, my ex, pessimists, bad food
