The benefits of yoga are huge, not only do they improve your physical strength, but increase concentration and memory and actually teach you how to relax. I teach yoga to children, and the reason I started to do this was because I saw what benefits it had to myself and thought why should children not receive these benefits also.
Not long been back from yoga. After a few months off I returned a few weeks ago. I realised not only have a lost some flexibility but also some strength. After only a couple of weeks, I am getting back to my best. I actually managed this pose today:
I was very proud of myself. I want to try and progress onto more advanced versions of this by going up onto tiptoes or raising one leg. I know I will get there one day.
I love yoga it is great for settling the mind, making you concentrate on what is going on in the present. I always feel relaxed and de-stressed after a good session and I guess it does help when you have a great teacher.
With spring fast approaching, if you are looking for some form of exercise to get you into shape. I would seriously recommend yoga. It is great, you do not feel as though you cannot do it. Everyone is at different levels and if you are not confident at first then you can always hide a the back of the class until you are. Yoga i progressive, and our teacher always tells us not to push it. The reality is thought, I cannot help it!
