This is Liverpool: Oh help us!

http://www.theladbible.com/articles/this-is-liverpool-reality-show-will-be-the-worst-thing-to-happen-to-everyone

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear……

A show based in Liverpool like the other reality shows such as Made in Chelsea and The Only Way Is Essex.  So although these programs are hardly enlightening, most (I said most) characters are painted in a reasonable light.  So why, when they release a reality show based in the North of England do they have to pick the roughest people who seem unable to string a sentence together without the use of multiple swear words, and more noticeably are unable to communicate with each other without being aggressive.  I live in the North of England next to another large city.  We are extremely friendly, individual in style (not carbon copy barbie dolls), and although some of us may swear it definitely is not the whole of the population (or who the producers portray the population as).

Sorry Liverpool but I do not see how this will do you any favours…..unless of course you are all like the show portrays you (though I highly doubt it).  If I was a Liverpudlian I would be feeling rather embarrassed as to how the show is painting you.

Mood board of me: How I perceive myself

When you think about yourself as a person, how do you see yourself?  It is difficult to describe to other people as perception is objective.  The words you use can give another person a different understanding or ‘picture’ than what you really mean.  This is why I have decided to prepare a mood board of my favourite pictures, images and objects which I believe truly represent me as a person.  I found this extremely therapeutic and helped me to focus on me as a person just for a little while.  It is difficult to get lost in today’s hectic world.  It is important to spend a little bit of time each day on yourself!  I would love to hear your feed back.  Why don’t you try this for yourself?

The Festival I NEED to go to: Burning Man, USA.

night of the burn

With Spring fast approaching, it has got me all excited thinking about the up and coming festivals I have booked for this Summer.  Which got me thinking once again about a festival I have to attend in my life time.  I recently learnt about The Burning Man, Nevada, USA.  The cost currently appears to be in the region of $380 .  Obviously with the cost of flights of say approximately £600 I’m going to need to save for this for some time.  It is not the type of thing I can impulsively decide to attend.  So, what is it? A week long festival of music, and what can only be described as a truly hedonistic event.  It promises to offer art of all forms, you cannot buy anything apart from coffee and ice.  You can however trade.  You must bring things with you to trade and this is all part of the charm of this wonderful event. From what I have read pretty much everything goes on here.

at the playa believe

Once a year, tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert (also known as “the playa”) to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever.  This seems like the ultimate festival to me.  The thought of thrusting myself into a week event where money is not a factor and you can reconnect with your roots is the ultimate for me.

From the research I have done, it is would seem that no matter how many pictures I put on here, or how I describe the event, there is just no way that anyone can get an true representation of what the festival truly is or what is actually is like.  the only way to do that, is to go.  I am just a little worried that once I have been to this festival that nothing else will ever compare.  Imagine going to the ultimate festival and not being able to beat it…..I reckon I would deal with it 😉

Have any of you been?  If you have I would love to hear about your experience.

Phase Eight Competition: Fashion Show Front Row

http://fashionthatpays.wordpress.com/2014/02/18/phase-eight-blog-competition-london-fashion-week-theme/

After having the opportunity of perusing the Phase Eight website, at first I found it rather difficult to choose my outfit, as there are so many options.  After an hour or so of consideration I have finally decided upon my choices.  I am so happy with these I am considering purchasing this dress for an up and coming event I am attending.  I ABSOLUTELY love it, and can see any front row guest in this outfit.  The style of the dress is something I would expect to see on the likes of Kate Moss and I love the colour.

dress

I decided to accessorize this dress with a bolero style jacket, which is made from chiffon, giving a sheer look.

The outfit is finished off with matching shoes and bag, in gold which gives extra ‘bling’ and sophistication to the outfit, giving the perfect front row outfit for London Fashion Week!  The shoes and bag also have a touch of ‘black’ tying in to the colour of the bolero.

Stunning Silver Jewelry Inspired by Bali

anniehaak

As you may or may not know, I love to write about things I like, including clothes and accessories.  My chosen items this time around are from a designer called Annie Haak http://www.anniehaakdesigns.co.uk/  Her website states that she gets much of the inspiration for her designs from the magical island of Bali where she is based for most of the year. Her influences are gathered from many aspects of Bali life from the local flora and fauna, the magical people and the colours and patterns found in the local markets and villages.  Perhaps this is why some of the pieces really do appear rather magical!!!

Many of the designs carry a special meaning by way of mantras or symbols that represent luck, love, protection strength and well-being. It is core to Annie’s design ethos that all her designs should carry a message of either love or support.

I first came across this designer a couple of years ago when I was reading a spiritual magazine, some of her bracelets incorporating guardian angels were featured in the magazine.  As a total ‘angel believer’ I immediately fell in love with them.  So much so in fact that I cut out her Sama My Guardian Angel design and added it to my collage art work which hangs in my bedroom.

Additionally, I am naturally attracted to silver jewelry.  It appears to suit my skin tone much better than gold.  However, there is now a few gold and rose gold options, which are equally as beautiful, I guess it just depends upon your personal preference.

Unfortunately to date, I have not managed to get my hands on the bracelet stack I so desperately would like (see featured image), due to lack of funds, but should I ever start to get paid for my writing, then I will ensure my first pay check pays for one!  I have however, treated myself to a lovely pair of earrings.  Which I have had now for over a year.  They are simple but lovely, a star with a single diamond in the middle.  They still look like new and we were worth the pounds I spent investing in them.  In addition, they came in a beautiful lined velvet bag and box which I now use to store some of my favourite crystals.  This is a range which when you receive the item, everything about it screams ‘quality’.  I was not disappointed and look forward to when I am able to add to my collection.

There are also lots of other reviews from happy customers on the website. If you like the style of this jewelry have a read, you will see there is nothing but positive comments about the quality and style of the jewelry.  I am sure you too will love this range.  I know Danni Minogue and Ferne Cotton are big fans too!

Preparing for Puppy Pandemonium

Not long now until our newest addition to the family moves into the fold. A chocolate brown cockapoo bitch which goes by the name of Coco. Over recent weeks we’ve been busy buying all the necessaries to ensure we are equipped to deal with the pandemonium which is sure to follow as soon as she puts he paws across the threshold.

My main motivation for finally giving in to my children’s pleas was the opportunity of daily exercise. So even though it has been extremely exciting ensuring i have everything i require to become Top Dog Owner, i reached the pinnacle of excitement when purchasing a pair of walking boots (yes of course i need them!)

Don’t keep this in your CLOSET

Closet Clothing  http://www.closetclothing.co.uk/

I recently bought a royal blue dress from Closet and I have to say I absolutely love it.  For the sheer reason that the ‘cut’ of the dress is amazing and so, so flattering.  For some unknown reason I managed to fit into a size 6.  The material does have some give, so I am guessing it is just very forgiving :).  You cannot tell from the picture here but the material has a ‘waffle’ effect to the material and also is fleece lined so perfect for these horrid winter nights out.  I wore this on New Years Eve and also a few times since (but with tights instead of over the knees!) I would not normally wear over the knees to be honest, but NYE was an exception as we were going to a private ‘party’ where we were raving all night and anything you want to wear goes without you being judged by the masses 😉 (I am 33 after all).

I loved this dress so much I have been trying to track down another one in another colour but to no avail ;-( Closet if you are listening…..customer right here, please help me out (red preferably….i have the pennies just no trace of a dress).

If you are lucky enough to come across one of these skater style dresses at the very least try it on, I guarantee you it will make you feel amazing.  The best thing is, they can be dressed up or down, making them very versatile and ensuring you get your monies worth!  Well done Closet!!! Average cost of a dress is around £50 so affordable for the majority, I am sure you will agree! I am definitely a convert.
